Brief information on the districts
Tbilisi is the capital of Georgia, translated from the Georgian “warm source”, the old name is Tiflis. It is the largest city of Georgia, located on the banks of the Kura River with a population of over 1 million people. The city was founded in the 5th century. Tbilisi is the ancient cultural center of Georgia. In the southeastern part of the city is its historical core - the Old Town with narrow streets that preserve the features of medieval buildings. Here you can see the ruins of the Narikala citadel, later completed by the Turks in the XVI-XVII centuries, the Anchiskhati stone church, the Metekhi church, the cathedrals of Sioni and Sameb.
David Gareja is a complex of Georgian cave monasteries of the 6th century, located 60 km south-east of Tbilisi, on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border, and stretching for 25 km along the slopes of the semi-desert Gareji Ridge.
