Day 1
Arrival in Tbilisi. Meeting of the group at the airport, transfer to the hotel, accommodation. Free evening in Tbilisi. Overnight at the hotel

Tbilisi. Afternoon walk around the city with a guide. Free evening in Tbilisi. Overnight at the hotel

Day 3
Kakheti. Route: Tbilisi - David Gareji - Sighnaghi - Tbilisi, 300 km. Group meeting at a hotel in Tbilisi. We are going east, to Kakheti - to the monastery cave complex of the 6-8th century David-Gareji. We go up to the pass, look at Azerbaijan - caves are located on the border itself. We wander through the ancient cells, admire the medieval frescoes. After we will recover in the medieval cozy town of Sighnaghi. It is famous for its view of the Alazani Valley - the city seems to soar above it. We will examine the fortress walls, take a walk along the cobbled streets of the old town. Wine tasting in an authentic wine cellar. Return to Tbilisi, overnight at the hotel

Day 4
Samtskhe-Javakheti. Route: Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Uplistsikhe - Borjomi, 200 km. Group meeting at a hotel in Tbilisi. We rise by car to the monastery of Jvari, admire the confluence of the Aragva and Kura rivers from above. At the request of the group: go down to Mtskheta - the ancient capital of Georgia. Take a walk there, see all the most interesting. Then we go to the most ancient city found on the territory of Georgia - the rock settlement Uplistsikhe. Architectural elements from 2000-2500 years old are preserved here. Walk and inspection. We’ll go to the town of Borjomi

Day 5
Samtskhe-Javakheti. Route: Borjomi - Vardzia - Akhaltsikhe, 180 km. In the morning we will walk around the Borjomi park and have a drink of natural mineral water of the same name. Optional: bathing in hot mineral springs. We leave for the cave medieval city of Vardzia, it was built by Queen Tamara in the 11th century. Walk and inspection. We spend the night in the city of Akhaltsikhe.

Day 6
Tbilisi. Route: Akhaltsikhe - Tbilisi, 210 km. Morning walk in Akhaltsikhe. We are returning to Tbilisi. Free evening in Tbilisi. Overnight at the hotel

Brief information on districts

Tbilisi is the capital of Georgia, translated from Georgian as “warm source”, the old name is Tiflis. This is the largest city in Georgia, located on the banks of the Kura River with a population of more than 1 million people. The city was founded in the 5th century. Tbilisi is the ancient cultural center of Georgia. In the southeastern part of the city is its historical core - the Old Town with narrow streets that have retained the features of medieval buildings. Here you can see the ruins of the citadel of Narikal, later completed by the Turks in the 16th-17th centuries, the stone church of Anchiskhati, the church of Metekhi, the cathedrals of Sioni and Sameba.

Uplistsikhe is an ancient cave city, one of the first cities in Georgia. Uplistsikhe is carved into a rock located 12 km east of the city of Gori on the left bank of the Kura River.

David Gareja is a complex of Georgian cave monasteries of the 6th century, located 60 km southeast of Tbilisi, on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border, and stretching 25 km along the slopes of the semi-desert Gareja Ridge.

Vardzia is a cave monastery complex of the 12th-13th centuries in the south of Georgia, in Javakhetia. An outstanding monument of medieval Georgian architecture. Located in the Aspindza region of Samtskhe-Javakheti, in the Kura River Valley, about 100 km south of the city of Borjomi, near the village of the same name.
