Mtskheta, Ananuri, Gudauri and Kazbegi. One day tour from Tbilisi

Start your day with pick-up from your hotel at 10:00 AM. Then head out to Mtskheta, capital of the ancient kingdom of Iberia. Here you visit the beautiful monastery of Jvari, which is the first monument of Georgia and is part of UNESCO world heritage for its masterful medieval architecture.

Then you head to Jinvali, which is the largest water reservoir in eastern Georgia. Afterwards you will visit the fortress of Ananuri, which is a building from late feudal Georgia. Here you will learn how people lived back in that time. The fortress is also part of UNESCO world heritage.

Then visit Gudauri, a ski resort, situated on a plateau of the greater Caucasus mountains. Next to the ski resort, you will find an impressive piece of art, the People's Friendship Arch. It was sculpted by the famous artist Tsereteli. Next, head to the ancient Georgian Trinity church, which is located at an altitude of 2170 meters. At the end of your tour, enjoy 2.5 hours of free time in Kazbegi and return to your hotel at around 10 PM.

Brief information on the districts

Tbilisi is the capital of Georgia, translated from the Georgian “warm source”, the old name is Tiflis. It is the largest city of Georgia, located on the banks of the Kura River with a population of over 1 million people. The city was founded in the 5th century. Tbilisi is the ancient cultural center of Georgia. In the southeastern part of the city is its historical core - the Old Town with narrow streets that preserve the features of medieval buildings. Here you can see the ruins of the Narikala citadel, later completed by the Turks in the XVI-XVII centuries, the Anchiskhati stone church, the Metekhi church, the cathedrals of Sioni and Sameb.

The city of Mtskheta is the most sacred city for pilgrimage in Georgia and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is one of the main tourist destinations in Georgia.

Stepantsminda village (from the Georgian - Saint-Stepan previously from 1921 to 2007 had the name -. Kazbegi village is situated at an altitude of 1744 m in the eastern part of the Central Caucasus, at the foot of Mount Kazbek.

Mount Kazbek (Georgian Mkinvartsveri (or Mkinvari), translated from the Georgian ice (th) peak (top) - extinct stratovolcano, the easternmost five thousand meters of the Caucasus, height 5033.8 m. It is located in the eastern part of the Central Caucasus, on the border of Russia and Georgia

Gudauri is the highest mountain ski resort in Georgia with natural snow, 2150 meters above sea level. It is located on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. This is a favorite meeting place for true skiers and snowboarders, ready to learn every day new routes and styles of skiing. The highlight of the resort Gudauri is a freeride, descent through the virgin fields.

The Ananuri Fortress is located in Georgia on the Georgian Military Highway, 70 km from Tbilisi - where the small Vedzathevi River flows into Aragvi. Ananuri served as the main stronghold for the Aragvian Eristaves, the rulers of this region.
